David Soul To Star In '
Chilling 3-Hour Drama
David Soul, James Mason,
Lance Kerwin and Bonnie Bedelia
star in “Salem’s Lot,” a chilling
three-hour horror story of vam
pirism running rampant in mo
dern-day New England, to be
rebroadcast as a special movie
presentation, Tuesday, September
22, at 8 p.m. on WBTv^Channel 3.
Guest starring in the drama,
based on the best-selling novel by
Stephen King, are: Lew Ayers,
Julie Cobb, George Dzundza, Ed
Flanders.Clarissa Kaye, Geoffrey
Lewis, Barney McFadden, Reggie
Nalder, Fred Wlllaul and Kenneth
McMillan.
Soul stars as Ben Mears, a
successful novelist who returns to
his boyhood home of Salem’s Lot,
haunted by the memories of a
house that troubled him as a boy-a
house he believes is the embodi
ment of pure evil. Determined
once and for all to put an end to his
troubled memories of the Marsten
House, Mears goes back to Salem’s
Lot in an attempt to plow through
the mystery and menace that
surround it.
But when Mears arrives in town,
he finds he is too late. The Mar
sten House has just been bought by
a stranger; a sinister-looking an
tique dealer named Straker

Auditions
Charlotte Opera will hold its
annual general auditions on Sa
turday October 10, at Ovens Au
ditorium.
These auditions will be for all
voices, are by appointment and
may be scheduled by calling the
Charlotte Opera office at 332-7177,
Each person auditioning should
prepare 2 arias and provide re
sume or bio sheet. An accom
panist will be provided.
The 1982-83 Charlotte Opera sea
son includes "Madam Butterfly”
on November 18 and 20, "Fidelio,”
on January 27 and 29, and “Pirates
and Penzance” on April 14
and 16.

"One Day at a Time,” Sunday,
September 20, at 8:30 p.m. on

Salem’s . Lot, opens an elegant
antique shop, and promises that
the arrival of his partner and
friend Barlow is imminent.
Bonnie Bedel La stars as Susan '
Norton, a native of Salem’s Lot
who pursues a career in the big
city and then returns home to
escape from her hectic life. Lance
Kerwin stars as a teen-ager whose
obsession with monsters and the
supernatural is an eerie warning of
what is about to strike the town.
The arrival of newcomers al
-ways sparks interest in o small
town and Salem’s Lot is no ex
ception. Even Ben Myers is looked
upon with some suspicion because
of his sudden arrival. Straker, too,
is the focus of speculation and
gossip, but what the citizenry of
Salem’s Lot cannot possibly fore
see is that Barlow's arrival in town
will trigger a chain of events,
unbelievable at first, and then too
terrifying to ignore or rationalize.
