Prophets Column p 44The Cutting Work Of The Hqly Spirit” »•» J. U. I.llllt* The greatest thing in all this universe is to know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and your Saviour 1 w ish I could tell the story of redeeming grace as 1 know it experimentally, but there are no words in any language that can express the greatness of Christ That is why 1 feel as though I have failed every time I give my testimony How is it w ith you. my friends? Do you know the Lord Jesus Christ0 Do you know Him? Every soul will meet the Lord You will meet Him in this life in mercy, or in the next life at the Great White -.Throne ,| ndmrient.Which w ill it be in your case0 You" are headed for eternity like it or not If you go through this life and fail to come to know Christ as your Lord -and vour Saviour, then it would have been better' that you had never been born. Now, I'm facing you with tho truth It would be funny, if it t weren't so tragical, the mudflat on which multi tudes of you live and stake the destiny of your soul. The saddesT thing here In my life is to see the elderly people in my family come down to the end of life and -you have no hope for eternity at all. You are not talking about going home to be with the Lord. Some of you, it would be un believable the things you have turned to, if I didn’t know about them. If you go out into eternity lost, you are going to come face to you have never loved nor desired, you’ll have td live in His presence, in His righteousness. And that’ll be the torture of the damned throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity. Oh, the awfulness of etern ity if you go out under the cloud without Christ, Will that be you? Mother, will that be you? Father, will that be you? I’m glad and praise the Lord I can greet you again with this message, the se cretary has been doing a good- job of preaching for —J. M. WHle— me the last several weeks. The Lord has given her a place in the work and I thank ffie Lord fdFher ~ Our subject at this time is: "The Cutting Work of the Holy Spirit." Little does the multitude of our church members know about the work of the Holy Spirit in the salvation of a sinner But you stay with me and ~ask the Lord to open yout mind, your eyes and your heart to the truth. "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the di viding asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents; of the heart." (Heb. 4:12). This message grew out of the experience I had yes -lecdayiaLwfllching the sur geon there in the hospital perform an operation on my youngest daughter. As he was cutting with his metal knife, I thought of the cutting and surgical work of the Holy Spirit in the salvation of a sinner. As a medical doctor does his surgery on the human body, so does the Spirit of God do His work on the spirit and mind and heart of a sinner. Th knife of the blessed Holy Spirit is the Word of God. The Sword of the Holy Spirit Paul told us here in Hebrews, is sharper than a two-edged sword. The Word of God in the hands of the Holy Spirit penetrates' the inner mah. The knife in the hands of a surgeon can never pene trate the inner man Only the Holy Spirit can open the inner man and let you see just what you are by nature, the judgement you are under, and your eternal —deem—as a hpH-rieserving sinner. When the Holy Spirit be gins His operation on a sinner, where does He first begin? Many uf yuu will quickly say He begins in the heart, you are wrong. The Holy Spirit first be gins His operation in the mind. You listen to the Word of God: "But if our ^gospel be hid, it is hid u> them that are lost: In —whom the god of this world hath blinded thelvilNDS of' them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (II Cor. 4:3-4). It is the Holy Spirit who shines the light of the glorious gospel of Christ into your minds first be cause that is where you are deceived by the god of this world first. Satan is the god of this world. Your mind and my mind, were poi soned by the god of this world. Satan poisoned your mind, and my mind to think Area Deaths And Funerals Mrs. Johnsie Mar Gill Funeral service for Mrs. Johnsie Mar Gill was held Monday, March 8, 1:30 pm. at Friendship Baptist _Church._ Mr. James Johnson ~ Funeral arrangements are incomplete for Mr. James Johnson of Laurel ton, N.Y., formerly of Charlotte, N.C., who died March 14. in New York. He begins in your poisoned mind In your mind you think you can get to Heaven on your good works When the Holy Spirit opens your mind. He shows you that you are wrong in your thinking, you can t think your way to Heaven Just as the Spirit of God said; "Let there be light: and there was light," in Gen. 1:4 in restoring light to the earth after it was destroy ed and lay in darkness, sc does the Spirit of God let lilftt into your darkened rmna. y oui lilllld and my mind were darkened in the FALL in AdamTWe all fell to a devilish and hellish state in Adam He lets you see yourself as a totally depraved sinnerT Many have said to me; “there is some good in the worst of men, and man is in the image of God." You need to read your Bible and ask the Spirit of God to operate on your mind. Man was created in the image of God, true. but in the FAbfc man lost that image and the light in him went out on the road to Hell because he disobeyed God. Are you in obedience to God, or fri rebellion? Out of Christ you are in rebellion against God.
