Prophet’s Column “God Humbling A Sinner” By J. 1W. Little In the first revelation of the Lord to a sinner's heart, the sinner sees his . lost and undone condition, that's the negative (n-n»-nt • enci11 side of your salva tion. In the second revela tion of the Lord to a sinner's heart, the sinner sees that Christ died for him, that's the positive t faith 1 side of your sal ' vat ion There must be the negative and the positive in order for you to be saved. In the preceeding three messages we saw in the case of King Pharaoh of Egypt; “GOD'S REPRO BATION AND DESTRUC TION OF PHARAOH," we saw how God reprobates a sinner and brings that sinner to destruction. Our subject at this timp is: ""GOD’s HUMBLING SINNER."’ Sinner, you'll either be broken and humbled by the Lord for salvation, or be reprobated for destruction. There is no in-between. When God gets ready to save a sinner, He shines the light of the glorious gospel of Christ into that sinner’s heart. "But if our gospel beliid, it is ma 10 mem mat are lost: In w^om the god of this world hath blinded, the. minds of them which be lieve not. lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto > them." <II Cor. 4:3-4).Yes, when the Holy Spirit begins to deal with a sinner for salvation, He opens the sinner’s mind and heart, which were darkened by Satan (the god of this world), and shines the light —of the glorious gospel of Christ into that darkened mind and heart. When the Holy Spirit opens your mind and heart, and reveals to you what you are by nature, you begin to humble under the mighty and gracious works of the Holy Spirit When the Lord opened Isaiah’s mind and heart what did he cry out? “Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; -because l am a“ man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.” (Isa. 6:5). Yes, in that first revelation of the Lord to Isaiah’s heart, he saw his UNDONE condition, his total depravity and his lost condition. Not only did Isaiah see his lost and depraved (unclean) condi tion, but he saw all those around him were lost too. When the Lord first revealed Himself to me, in that first revelation, I saw I was lost and had never Immediate opening for mechanical artist for local weekly news paper. You . can be lost and nnl know it, but you cannot be saved and not know it. Seeing my lost condition under the revealing work of the Holy Spirit began to humble me. Before this I was a very PROUD, religious sinner. Religious but lost. The r ui — i greatest thing that can happen to you as a sinner is for the blessed Holy Spirit to throw back the skylight of your mind, heart and soul and shine the light of the gospel into your heart showing you your lost condition. That is Heavenly Miss Holy Spirit conviction (Jn. 16:7-11) and you'll die - in your sins and wake up in Hell. I saw I had nothing that would or could gain me favor with God. I was a sinner pol luted in my own blood (Ez. 16:6). Yes, seeing myself without Christ and far off from God (Eph. 2:12-13) made me weep night and day. For I know hy "knowledge from heaven that I was a lost sinner on the road to Hell and go to Hell I would unless the Lord saved me in His great mercy. In earlier years I had embraced all the major religions of the world I could get my hands on. Still there was the empti ness in my heart that would not go away. As the Holy Spirit taught me more through the Word of God I saw that my salvation would have to come from without. He revealed to me all so well that I could not saved myself. Now 1 want to tell something right here that may shock some off you; seeing my lost condi tion, and being convinced by the Holy Spirit that I could not save myself, I quit asking the Lord to save me. Yes, I did. That may be strange to. But 1 began to cry from the depths of my heart; Lord, MAKE ME LOST,-You said You came to seek and to save that which was lost.” I knew that . Code word does not lie. And I knew that if I could just get lost, the Lora would save me. Praise the Lord, He answered my prayer.
