Jeffrey Osborne, the frame that surrounds that
melodius voice, of “Back in Love,” “Shine On,” and
Love Ballad,” was in Charlotte recently
conversing with A1 Duncan, co-owner of the Silver
Dollars club and Fran Farrer-Bradley, advertising
executive with The Charlotte Post. Osborne was
recently parted gracefully from LTD to pursue his
growth, struck out on his own in 1981. Today he has
an album out entitled “Jeffrey Osborne” with tunes
like “Who You Talking To” and “Ready For Your
Love" you-shouldn’t wait to hear.
Spirit Square Receives Art Grant
A $150,000 challenge grant
toward the renovation of the Saw
tooth Building has been awarded to
Spirit Square by The Kresge
Foundation of Troy, Michigan
according to Francis B. Kemp,
Spirit Square Board President.
This gift, which is contingent upon
raising the full $1.1 million budget
ed for the project, is one of the
largest-gifts ever awarded to a
Charlotte arts organization from
outside the community.
“This is a timely boost to our
campaign,” Kemp said. “The
Kresge Foundation annually re
ceives grant applications from
major museums, hospitals and
universities, and we are honored to
be among that select group which
receives funding.”
