Church News Briefs United Presbyterian Church Will Celebrate Homecoming Post Staff Writer Ben Salem United Pres byterian Church, 2414 North Sharon Amity Road, will celebrate its annual Homecoming weekend be ginning Sunday, November 7, during the 11 a.m. service. The Annual Celebration will be featured the entire day Rev. Ray A. Booton, pastor of the church, will deliver the morning mes sage. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m. to all church guests. During the Homecoming afternoon program, chaired by Marverine Cau then, Rev. Robert L. Wal ton, pastor of St. Paul United Presbyterian Church, will be the special guest speaker This service begins at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Walton will be ac companied by his choirs and congregation. They are also the specially invited guests for this occasion. The Ben Salem Family cordially invites the public to attend these special ser vices of Homecoming to praise and glorify our Lord. A Guatemala Mayan Indian, refugee and mem ber of the opposition to the Guatemalan military re gime of General Rios Montt, Ms. Zapon will be ini Charlotte to tell of the many mass executions and report information not cur rently reported in most U.S. newspapers. For instance, on October 11 Amnesty International released a report which do cumented the murders of 2,600 Indians and peasants, many of them women and children since Rios Montt came to power. General Montt, as of March of this year has emerged as the strong man. Ms. Zapon will be travel ing in the Southern part of the U.S. until November 11 in hopes of raising the awareness of Americans about the plight of the Mayan people and in the hope of soliciting the sup port of Americans to put pressur^oi^u^govenv Rev.
