Shamsid-Deen . ....Speech Communications major Shamsid-Deen Is Active In Student Government vena muneeran Sham sid-Deen, the daughter of Shafeeq and Rasheedah Shamsid-Deen of Hunters ville, N.C. is a senior majoring in Speech Com munications and English at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNC-G). While at UNC-G, she has been very active in Student Government. In her junior year, she served as a jus tice on the University Court and also on the Honor Court. Presently, her services consist of Se cretary of Minority Affairs in Student Government. She is the voice for all of toe minority students on campus. Miss Shamsid-Deen likes her position because she says it gives her the op portunity to work with a diverse group of students, qfc)well as meeting and iimracting witoUniversity Administrators. Miss Shamsid-Deen is also a charter member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and has been very active in its under-takings since it was first chart ered on the campus in January, 1981. She feels extra-curricu lar activities are import ant, however, academics are more important. This view is exemplified in her striving for academic ex cellence. She has been on the Dean’s List, a member of the Golden Chain Honor Society, and a Junior Scho lar; and was recently highly honored when she was selected as one of the University’s Twenty Out standing Students, Twenty Outstanding Seniors, and Senior Class Alumni Presi dent. Upon graduation Miss Shamsid-Deen plans to attend law school with an interest in International Law. John W. Maye, an assistant high school principal in Durham, has been elected national president of the 23,000-member A AT State University Alumni Associa tion. Maye Is a native of Greenville, N.C. and a 1973 graduate of A AT.
