Church iSews Briefs Word Of Faith Seminar Will Converge In r.hnrlntt* In F«*.1 ' By Lori Grier Port Staff Writer On June 8-10, the Word of Faith Seminar with Fre derick K. C. Price will converge in Charlotte. During the three days of service the teaching of the word of faith will be heard. Each night starting at 7:30 and 10 a.m. on Thurs day and Friday, Dr. Price will speak. Services will be held at Ovens Auditorium, 2700 E. Independence Blvd. Dr. Price is the founder and pastor of Crenshaw Christian Center in Ingle wood, California. The church has a large mem bership of over 10,000 people which has neces sitated the purchase of 32 acres of land in the heart of Los Angeles. The construc tion of a 10,000-seat church is under construction to ac commodate the rapidly growing membership of Crenshaw. The “Ever Increasing Faith Ministry of Dr. Price involves a daily radio broadcast and a one hour television program viewed on over 37 televi sion stations throughout the U.S., West Indies, Au stralia and South Africa. Six books have been au thored by Dr. Price in cluding a Spanish version of his most popular book, “How Faith Works.” Married to Betty Price the couple has four child ren. His family also ex tends within the church and be travels extensively throughout the world teaching the word of faith. The public is invited to attend and come early to secure a good seat. HOOD MEMORIAL The Hood Memorial AME Zion Church Youth Department and “Y” So ciety are planning special services on the 26,27 and 28 of May. • On Thursday, May 28, 7 p.m., a Youth Rap Session and Prayer Service will be held at Hood Memorial. This service will be led by Rev. Earle Johnson, pas tor of HoodMemorial, and ing minister of Hood*The Rap Sessions-Prayer Ser vice is for youth only. On Friday, May 27, 7 p.m., there will be a one night Youth Revival. The guest minister is Rev. Burrell Brooks, pastor of the New Providence Bap tist Church located in ML Holly, N.C. Award. - The award was presented by the president of Mrs. Skin Cancer Screening Set A free Skin Cancer Awareness Program spon sored by the American Cancer Society will be Friday and Saturday, June 3-4, at Park Road Shop ping Center. Volunteer physicians will be checking suspicious moles and sores from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 pm. on Saturday. They will also answer questions on exposure to the sun and suntan lotions. Approximately 400,000 Americans will get «iHn cancer this year. With the exception of malignant melanoma, about 96 per cent of them can be cured through early detection and prompt treatment. Individuals with fair complexions and red or blonde hair run a greater risk of developing skin cancer from repeated over exposure to the sun. In summer, when more peo ple are out In the sun through work or leisure ac tivities, everyone should wear protective clothing, use a sun screen and sun bathe before 10 a.m. and after 3 p.m. Any change in the size or color of a wart or mole, a sore that does not heal, or any unusual pigmentations should be evaluated by a doctor. Most often, these will not be cancer, but only a doctor can determine the condition.
