lye Roper Showered With Numerous Birthday Gifts . No man can ex pect to find a friend without faults, nor can he propose to be faultless to another. Every man will have some thing to do for his friend, and something to bear with in him. Only the earnest man can do the first; and for the latter, patience is mandatory. It is better for * man to depend nn htmaelf than to be annoyed with either a madman or a fool. Billye Roper's friends are not mad nor are they foolish, they are just warm, caring people to an equally, warm and caring person. To show how much they think of her, she was hon ored twice on her birthday recently. She was showered with gifts at the bank where she is em ployed and she was won derfully surprised that night with a party. i ne party was hosted at Charlotte Post Publisher, Bill Johnson’s spacious home. Here again she was showered with beautiful gifts during a night that was resplendent with amenities fit for a queen. Sharing with Billye in this night of anniversary fun were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Chiles, Fran Farrer-Bradley, Rose Dannelly, Creola Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ramseur, and Dannette Gaither. MT. CARMEL HEYDAY . Men cannot labor-on always. They must have recreation. And if they don’t get it from healthful sources, they will very likely take it from poisoned fountains. Or, if they have pleasures, which, though innocent, are forbidden by 5 WITH BOB JOHNSON E5E the maxims of public mor ality, their very pleasures are liable to become poi soned fountains. Last Saturday afternoon, the members of Mt. Car mel Baptist Church and their guests used the facili ties at Hornet’s Nest Park to enjoy some healthful recreational activities. In cluded were bingo, back gammon, horse shoe pitch ing and that all American sport, softball. upwards of 900 people participated in Mt. Carmel’s second annual church picnic at Hornet’s Nest. They filled them selves with succulent chicken and fish cooked in black pots, along with potato salad, tossed salad, watermelon and home made ice cream. The two to nine p.m. affair was well organized. Our hats are off to the people of the Picnic Coor inating Committee. POLITICAL DISCO.
