Oratorio Singers Launch FundRaiser The 150 member Oratorio Singers of Charlotte has launched a fund raiser that promises to award one ticket holder a hand-made yacht valued at $3,000. The yacht, built by Colonel Richard E. Knie, is made ot wood and is the grand prize in a raffle currently underway. Other items be ing raffled are to include a lithograph, an etching and porcelain and other art worxs Dy regional artists. According to Oratorio Singers’ President Jerry Jemigan, Colonel Knie and his wife, Barbara, are long time supporters of the Singers. “We’re delighted to have such a marvelous piece of art contributed to the organization, particu larly since it comes from the hands of our dear friend,” said Jemigan. Jemigan explains, “The Board of Directors felt that a raffle with these unique prizes was the best way to involve both the Singers and all of our supporters in a project to benefit the Oratorio.” ~ The raffle culminates November* 12 with a party . at White Oaks, home of Bill and Claire Allen. There will be minimal admission fee to the Wine and hors d’oevres event where the winning tickets will be drawn. Money raised from the raffle will go into the gen eral fund for the Oratorio Singers. The group is cur rently preparing Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio” for a performance in December.
