Someone will have to find a punish ment to measure the type of crime committed. The death penalty has not detered crime but has been used ss an injustice to the black race as a whole. The whole sys tem Is screwed up, because Ate wrong people are In control of the correctional institutions.” It s much easier, to give a death sentence, if the murderer commits other crimes like robbery or rapt. There are always mitigating circumstances Which cause the judflp to give lighter sentences,” declared Att. Harvey. For situation B. he pointed oat, "For more than one feflony you’ve got to have greater punishment ” He thinks the death sentence should be given, if the murderer kills a stranger. “The act ie mare repulsive when a stranger is killed.
