Sr. of Charlotte, who is chairman ol the board, will also be present. Honorees include Ron Leeper, Lillie Beckham, Lugene Prince, Sarah Coleman, Robert L. Davis, Sant Johnson, Phyllis Lynch, Nasif Ma • jeed and Elder Thomas W. Samuels. Daniel Patricl Mohnihan (D-NY). The senator wants Con gress to pass legislation H.R. 3240 which calls for minting a gold medal in the name of late Roy Wilkins. Wilkins, a civil rights lead er was also the editor of the NAACP publication “The Crisis.” According to Sen. Moy nihan, there are two rea sons behind honoring Wilkins, “Roy Wilkins held two goals, racial equality and nonviolence,” Moyni han stated. “Looking back, it is remarkable - a sign of his idealism - that Roy Wlkins was able to retain these goals. The U!S. Senate has al ready approved the propos al and ts waiting^ on a response from the House. . The 93 churches in the Golds boro-Raleigh district endorsed Lt. Gov.
