LAUCH FAIRCLOTH: SUCCESS FOR NORTH CAROLINA Lauch Faircfoth’s road to success started as a teenager when he had to take over the family , farm following his father’s illness. By the time he was 30, he owned several small businesses. Along the way Governors Terry Sanford, Bob Scott and Jim Hunt asked him to serve in their ^administrations. — Now Lauch Faircloth wants to put that unique record of experience to work for you as Governor l-L of North Carolina. JOBS — Governor Jim Hunt called Lauch Faircloth his “strong right arm in our effort to create good jobs.” Governor Hunt said the record growth of industry, tourism and the state ports while Faircloth was Secretary of Commerce “meant tens of thousands of new and better jobs for the people in this state.” ELDERLY — Lauch Faircloth will strongly support programs that help the elderly like weatheri zation, home services, nutrition and adult day care. EDUCATION — Faircloth will strengthen elementary arrd secondary education for our children, emphasize vocational education in high school and skills training in community colleges. He will make black universities equal partners in the university system. EQUAL RIGHTS — Faircloth supports the Voting Rights Act and Equal Rights Amendment. OPEN GOVERNMENT — He will appoint and promote more minorities in state government, including his cabinet, &o that minorities are participating, rather than on the outside looking in. Lauch Faircloth believes “the test of progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much.
