Jocelyn Rooeboro .CMS ninth grader Jocelyn Roeeboro Participates In _j Sorority Pagpant Joycelyn Patrice Rose boro, a ninth grader at Carmel Junior High, re ceived special recognition in the second annual Zeta Soiree in Winston-Salem. The Soiree, sponsored by the Rho Zeta Chapter of ZeU Phi BeU Sorority, Inc., is a presenUtion ball for junior high school girls. Jocelyn was honored as best all-around participant. She also received an award for being the only out-of town contesUnt. She was escorted by her cousin, Antonio Walker. ' A sports enthusiast, Jocelyn enjoys softball, . cheerleading and bowling. •• She la the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Rose boro and has one sister, Zina. CalisU Robinson of Win ston-Salem was crowned Miss ZeU Enchante. Jo celyn placed fifth among the 12 Soiree contestants. Sharps was elected to the Executive Council of the North Caro lina- National Guard As sociation at its 24th An nual Convention held in Winston-Salem, N.C., 12-14 April 1964. Mr. Sharps will be one of 11 other Associa tion members to serve on the Executive Council for a period of two years, re presenting over 13,000 members of the North Ca rolina National Guard_—; Mr. Sharps is a mem ber of 145 RMSq in Charlotte serving as In ventory Management Su pervisor with over 12 years of service. Mr. Sharps and his wife, the former Geraldine Tate, have two children, Loretta and Malcolm. Mr. Sharps is employed by the North Carolina Air National Guard in Char lotte. BHdge Oub Winners Announced Members of the Metro lina Duplicate Bridge Club have just returned from attending the 51st Spring National tournament of the American Bridge Associa tion in Toronto, Canada. There, Metrolina mem bers George and Dorothy Johnson, Samella and W. W. Twitty, Bertha Robin son, Naomi High, Matilda Spears, Tennyson Johnson and William Haygood, Jr. played several difficult bridge hands, won numer ous points and secured many trophies. During the weekly sched uled bridge game the fol lowing winners were an nounced: Vietta Neal and Spencer Durante, first place; Leatha Caldwell and Marion Boyd, second place; Harry Boat and Charles Boat, third place; and George John son and W. Trode St. Churches lining Up for Post’s “Ch urch woman Of Year” Contest By Loretta Manage Post Staff Writer There are only two weeks remaining before The Charlotte Post kicks-off its third annual “Church woman of the Year” con test. Program coordinator, Anita Robinson and assist ant coordinator, Michele Dorsey are working at a hare’s pace to contact the F“ area’s churches to ensure that not one interested church is omitted from the exciting campaign....4 The contest begins May 27 and will conclude on July 8. The first official report ing date has been set for June 4. ' On Saturday, May 12, the churches that have defi nitely committed thera selves to the contest, will send a representative to McDonald’s Cafeteria, where the rules and regula tions of the contest will be discussed. Because of the nearness of the date, churches are encouraged to contact The Pott of their intentions to participate in this year’s heated race. Editor and pu blisher, Bill Johnson pro mises that the contest will be full of prizes and in centives for the contestants and their committee mem bers to win during the six week campaign. r V Those churches and pas tors who have thrown their hats in the ring include: East Stonewall AME Zion Church, Rev.
