Mrs. Shinn is also president of the Chris tian American Society for Psychoprophylaxis in Ob stetrics ASPC - Lamaze associates in Charlotte. Mrs. Shinn is one of 85 certified ACCE Lamaze in structors in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. ASPC, the nation’s leading child birth organization, has only accredited in structors. These accredited teach ers must spend one to one-half year in in struction. Worsley Awarded Production Training Grant William Worsley, junior in Communication Arts, has been awarded a scho larship for a video-produc tion course at the PCA Teleproductions Institute. The award covers the en tire $750 cost of the course, which Worsley will take during the summer. PCA Teleproductions, located in Matthews, re cently decided to offer the scholarship to a Smith stu dent to be selected by the Black Media Association. '‘The class will prc pare you for anything,” Mrs. Shinn explained. “There is heavy focus on relaxation and the breath ing technique that is best for you. We build confi dence about the birth ex perience and emphasize that giving birth is a nor mal process not un natural.” Classes are open to any one who is pregnant.
