Cunningham, the son of Joan Cannon, just happened to be home from the Institute earlier this week. He was recommended for the honor by William N. Weaver, president of the college. This semester Cunning ham’s GPA was 4.0. His cumulative average is 3.8. A 1983 graduate of Myers Park High School, Cunning ham entered his college with little apprehension. (He was informed about the college during Career Day at Myers Park.) “I was actually afraid,” Cunning ham stated. “But friends helped me out a great deal and extra work on my behalf also helped out.” “I also owe a lot to my mother. A lot of students have to work and attend school. But 1 don-’t have to _ work and 1 spend the majority of my time studying." — Cunningham will attend the Insti tute for 2Ms years. His field of study is electronic engineering. He is also working in the Test Instrument (TI) Project at his college. “The TI Project involves the 314 machine. We create our own material - something that industries have not created as of yet. DeVry Inc. is one of the largest post-secondary technical education organizations in North America, Drug Awarenc* Week The University of North Carolina At Charlotte will hold its first annual "Drug Awareness Week" November 13-15, according to Masherrill Fant, health educator with UNCC's B rocker Health Center __■ _ The four-day event will be sponsored by the University health Promotion Comittee and the Student Government Association. Lectures are scheduled by members of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) and Steve Newman, director of Mecklenburg County Substance Abuse Services. The centerpeice of Drug Awareness Week will be a Drug Awareness Fair, featuring cash prizes for best booth, balloons and non-alcoholic "beer," November 13 from 11 a m. to 2 p.m. on Cone University Center Plaza.
