Marsh Explains
Use Of %ious
Hair Ornaments
Feathers, decorated
combs, bands of different
widths, colors and tex
tures, sequined skull ca pe
ttiest are just a few of the
many types of hair orna
ments with which to adorn
your bead, accent your out
fit - or hide your hair.
Leola Marsh, owner and
manager of D’Bssence
Hair Design Salon, re
cently demonstrated the
use of various hair orna
ments at her shop on West
Boulevard.
One, a gold-sequined
skullcap, can be worn in
different ways to accom
modate different face
shapes. For instance,
wearing the cap to the side
will slenderize an oval
face, while wearing it
straight is more becoming
to a thinner face, Ms.
Marsh explained.
Feather ornaments can
be worn singly or together
with others of the same or
contrasting colors. Color
ful hairsprays which can be
combed out can be used to
blend the Ups of the hair
with the feathers or other
ornaments.
Decorated combs and
barrettes can be worn by
themselves or in conjunc
tion with hairpieces to
achieve « wide range of
looks.
Hair bands can be used
not only to achieve a so
phisticated look, but also to
camouflage hair that’s
"not up to par,” said Ms.
Marsh. Many kinds of hair
bands can be purchased, or
they can be made from any
type of material to co- “
ordinate with one’s wor
drobe. The bands, which
are often fastened by ty
ing, can double as belts to
be worn, on the hips, she
pointed out.
In addition, ornaments
can be added to the bands
for a striking effect.
The salon manager as
serted that all lengths of
hair can be adorned with
ornaments. And, by vary
ing not only the ornaments,
but how each is used,
many different fashion
looks can be achieved.
