Mrs. Melvin Mason .She was Miss Judy Daniels Miss Judy Daniels Is Bride Of Melvin Mason The lives of Judy Daniels and Melvin Mason were recently united in holy matrimony. The ceremony was officiated by Pastor William White of little Rock AME Zion Church. Given in marriage by her unde, the bride was dressed in a beau tiful, old fashioned bridal gown of polyester taffeta. It featured, a Queen Anne neckline and a darn fitting bodice, both trimmed in lace and simulated pearls. Her hat was made of satin, highlitaited by pearls, a biusher andiTfloor length veil made of nylodnet. & Entrusted as the maid of honor was Carolyn Daniels of Chicago. The other bridal attendants were Jean nette Parker of Mt Holly, N.C., Donna Alexander, Phyllis McNair, Desiree Abraham, Kathy Dargan, Carrie Mickerson, Bonnie Phillips and Sherlyn Bratton. The flower girl was little Miss Melissa Robinson. ; ; For the best man the groom chose Eric Williams. He was assisted by groomsmen Gordon Tucker, Cornell Bolder, Jarvis Chisolm, Ralph Chisolm, Antoine Chisolm, Alphon- ' so Daniels, Antonio Townsend and Willie Robinson. Master DeRon Alexander was the ring bearer. The music was provided by Willie Caldwell and Talberts McMuUis, ^ vocalist and organist Eric Brown. A graduate of West Charlotte and Ray-Vogue College in Chicago, the bride also attended Central Pied moot Community College. She is presently employed at CPCC as head registrar and as a secretary for Nabisco Brands, Inc. Active in church and in the community, the bride, who is the daughter of Mrs. John Daniels, is also a member of the American Association of Black Women Entrepreneurs. ’ The son of Mr. and Mrs. William Mason, the groom is a graduate of Harding High School. He is a su pervisor for Feibus Inc. k Company. Following the wedding, the couple honeymooned in Hawaii. The public Is invited to attend. ™ January u celebration has been planned in conjunction with Pepsi Cola Bottling Company of Charlotte, the Afro-American Cul tural Center, the local chapter of the National Conference of Christians and Jews, WBTV, Little Rock AME Zion Church, the Charlotte Area Clergy Association and the Christian Minister's Fellowship. The purpose is to bring together citizens of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County and surrounding communities to pay tribute to Dr. King’s memory and to recommit to his “dream.” The program will feature an art ' exhibit and soup service from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. with art work created by local elementary, Junior and senior high school students. The main pro gram, which starts at 7 p in., wijl feature local church and community leaders including Ms. Marion Cannon, Mrs. Dorothy Coiints Scoggins, Mr. Charles Jones, Mrs. Kitty Hoffman and Dr. Kelly Alex ander Sr., who were prominent in this community's civil rights move ment. During the service an offer ing will be received, and the pro ceeds will be donated to the Crisis Assistance Ministry, in Dr. King’s honor, to help in their services to the needy in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. Tuesday, January 15, Dr. Kill’s birth date, Is an official City holi day. Mecklenburg County and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System will observe Dr. King's birthday on Monday, January 21.
