Clemson University officials have
announced the names of 1,113 stu
dents who made the Dean’s List for
the fall semester, 1984.
The Dean’s List honors students
with grade point averages of 3.S to
3.99 (4.0 equals all A’s).
Among those students from Char
lotte include Christopher Cross, a '
1983 graduate of East Mecklenburg
High School. Christopher’s major is
computer engineering. Other stu

Alternative Schools
Parents have only two more weeks
to submit applications for their
children to attend one of the five
alternative schools for 1965-86. All
applications must be returned to the
Education Center by March 31.
Students will be selected by lottery
- on Thursday, April 18, at 9 a.m. at
the Education Center.
The system’s five alternative
schools are Elizabeth and Myers
Park Traditional Elementary
Schools, Hawthorne Traditional
Junior High’School, .Irwin Avenue
Open Elementary School and Pied
mont Open Middle School. So far, the
pupil assignment office has received
352 applications for Elizabeth. 425
for Myers Park, 98 for Hawthorne,
107 for Irwin Avenue and 47 for
Piedmont. The number of openings
in each school for next year has not
been determined.
Applications for alternative
schools are available at all CMS
elementary, middle and junior high
schools and at the Education
Center. Parents must be residents of
Mecklenburg County at the time of
application. For more information,

Beautillion Militaire To Present 24
Young Men To Society

‘‘We are very excited about this
year’s Beautillion Militaire,' said
cochairman, Bernard Reeves. “It is
our eighth one and we hope to make
it the best. The young men we have
been working with have been a very
intelligent and cooperative group.”
The Beautillion Militaire was
founded in 1976 by the now de
ceased Dr. C. W. Williams.
Dr. Williams was the first chair

Psl Fraternity's Charlotte Alumni
Chapter will present 24 young men to
society.
The “Bea million Miiitaire” and
the “Beaux of the Year” Pageant
will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The Bea million Miiitaire is a
leadership training project that
culminates with a banquet.
During the past six months the
young men have been involved in
workshops and self-improvement
sessions designed to help them -
towards their college study.
