' ' i f -I In Concert Here By Loretta Manago Entertaiameat Editor Having opened for the Atlanta-Fulton County Sta dium the night Henry Aaron hit his 715th home run and having had mem bers perform for the inaugu j ral ceremony for former president Jimmy Carter, the distinquished Morris Brown Concert Choir will be in concert Friday, March 29, at Memorial Presbyterian Church be ginning at 7:30 pm. A distinguished choir, the Morris Brown College Con cert Choir has made itself known through radio, tele vision and recordings. The choir has had command performances in the Rotun da in Washington, D.C., has presented concerts in the Civic Center in Chicago and in the Dag-Hammer - skjold Auditorium in the United Nations Building Recently, the group sang with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in a perfor-' mpnce of “Porgy and *ess." Among its many tumors is the selection to pttform for the State Con ■ tion and the ACDA, Arne MORRIS BROWN COLLEGE CHOIR ~J)istinguuhed concert choir rican Choral Directors Association. Accompanying the choir when they come to Char lotte will be director, Glynn Halsey and pianist Bar barie McNeely-Bouie. Re cognized as a top-notch director, Halsey is a gra duate of Alabama State University and Georgia State University where he received the bachelor and masters degrees in choral conducting. Since 1979 he has conducted the choral music program at the Sum mer Governor’s Honor Program four times. He is frequently acting as a judge, clinician and guest conductor throughout the state of Georgia. Hie choir’s accompanist, Barbarie McNeely-Bouie is an instructor in the De partment of Music at Mor ris Brown College. She completed Spelman Col lege and Cincinnati Con servatory of Music for her B.A. and M.M. degrees. In addition to her work with How tar Should A Woman Go? Also featured is Michelle Wright, a 1980 Miss America finalist and the first Black Miss New Jersey. One month after Penthouse magazine published nude pictures of Vanessa Williams, the former Miss New Jersey appeared nude in the October issue of Gallery, another men’s magazine. Wright told Tony Brown ' that she has absolutely no regrets about posing nude. “At this stage things can come about and not damage a person’s image,” she say*. “You can be intelligent and a businesswoman and still do this (pose in the nude) too.
