Clement Memorial AME Zion Church Sets Annual Sei—ices

The Annual Coronation service of
Clement Memorial AME Zipn
Church will be held Sunday, March
24, at 6 p.m. The coronation will
feature the ladies in their long
evening apparel and the men in their
dark suits and tuxedos.
Each year the church looks for
ward to the coronation. Anxious
excitment prevails as the members
wait to see who will be crowned queen
and king for the year.
An invitation is extented to the
entire community to come and wit
- ness this occasion as the church
strives to improve the church and
community, as well as uplift the
name of Jesus.
The church also sponsored a
Twelve Tribe Rally recently. The
rally was instigated at the church by
Rev. and Mrs. Ell Price, first
family, as a building fund pro
ject. It has proven to be a suc
cessful and meaningful occasion.

8ILVER MOUNT
Lincoln C. Lee, the youngest son of
Rev. and Mrs. William Lee Jr., first
family of Silver Mount Baptist
Church, will, deliver his initial
trial sermon Sunday, March 24, at 7
p.m., at Silver Mount, on Old Pine
ville Rd. in south Charlotte.
Lincoln is a senior at North,
Mecklenburg High School and plans
to attend Shaw University in Ra
leigh this fall.
He has been a member of Sil
ver Mount since IS74. He grew up
participating in the Youth Depart
ment and served on both the
Midget and Junior Usher Boards.
He participated in Scout Troop No.
345 of Derita and has earned a
number of outstanding Scouting
awards. He now serves as assist
ant Scput Master.
Lee has been a member of his
> school’s ROTC program for three
years, is a proficient typist and has
played the violin for five years. '

the Home Missionary Society of
Gethsemane AME Zion Church will
sponsor the Annual Lenten Service.
The theme, “A Journey With Christ
Through The Holy Land,” will be
brought to life as viewers take a 200
mile “armchair” trip to the Holy
Land showing where Jesus lived,
worked, taught, and his triumphant
entry into Jerusalem. You get all of
this without the hassle of passport,
vaccinations or luggage. The Society
promises it will be a journey you’ll
never forget.

COM BO NATION CHOIR
On Sunday, March 24, the Cora
bonation Choir of Charlotte will be
presented in its first annual con
cert at the Waves of Joy Baptist
Church located on the_corner of
Pegram and 15th Streets in north
Charlotte.
The “Combo” is an interdenomin
ational Christian evangelistic min
istry whose purpose is to spread the
love of Jesus Christ throughout the
land. This is done through song and
testimony, always with the oppor
tunity to accept Jesus Christ as Lord
and Saviour being the focal point of
the service.
The “Combo” has been beard in
and around the Charlotte area for
the past few years as well as having
performed many times along the
Blast Coast. The choir has released
an album, “Changed,” which is
heard over the blade gospel sta

Dr. Jones, a dynamic speaker,
was barn in Philadelphia and
reared in New Jersey. He is mar
ried to the former Carolyn Brenda
Reynolds. They are the proud pa
rents of two children, Michelle and
Anthony.
Dr. Jones received the master of
divinity and master of theology de
grees from Southeastern Baptist
Theological Seminary. He received
the degree of doctor of ministry at
Boston School of Theology; and has
studied at Regents Park College in
Oxford, England.
He has served in the General
Baptist State Convention as Re
cording Secretary and Executive
Committee member. Dr. Jones is
noted for achievements in Who’s
Who in Religion In America; Who’s
Who Among Black Americans;
Who’s Who In International Bio
graphies, Oxford, England.
Salem has featured several wor
ship services, programs and a work
shop stressing the importance of
mission wdrk. The workshop was
conducted by Eva Johnson of the
Woman’s Home and Foreign Mis
sion of N.C! Ste led the studies
emphasizing that each Christian has
a jdb. This workshop was held last'
Saturday and was a great success,
according to Salem’s church re
porter, Ann McCullough.

Men’s Day 1985.
Guest speaker for the 11 a.m,
worship service will be William
“Bill” Lindsay, a native Char
lottean. Lindsay is a graduate of the
public schools of Charlotte; a
graduate of Fisk University where
he received a B. A. degree and also a
graduate of Temple University
where he received the master of
education degree.
Lindsay taught English at West
Charlotte High School where he
remained tor 20 years. He also
taught special ability and talented
English students at Myers Park
High School.
Having completed 90 years in the
field of education, Lindsay then re
tired from the North Carolina Pu
blic Education System. At the time
of his retirement he was vice prin
cipal of East Gaston High School in
Mount Holly.
Men’s Day promises to be one to
remember for a long time; there
fore, you are asked to attend.
