Anlssa Johnson * _' ’ •' ■ * J Nina Johnson Traci Ladd At West Charlotte High rre-leen Cotillion Set For Fridav A Grecian garden setting, com plete with Greek columns and silk flower arrangements in Grecian urns, will be the backdrop for the fourth annual Pre-Teen Cotillion presented by the Beta Omicron Sigma Chapter of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. The elaborate event will take place on Friday, April 12, at 7 p.m. at the West Charlotte High School Auditorium, located at 2219 Senior Drive, Charlotte. Last week seven of the 15 mem bers of the Pre-Teen Cotillion Court were presented. This week the remaining eight young ladies are: Anissa Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Johnson; Nina John son, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dennis; Traci Ladd, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert J. Ladd; Cas sandra Moore, daughter of Mr. Robert Moore and Mrs. Helen Moore; Jamila Perry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Perry; Yolan da Warren, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Warren; Karma Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Williams; and Melanie In gram, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ingram. During the Cotillion, the Grecian garden setting entitled, “Where Na ture and Beauty Embrace,” will be narrated by Clayton Lovell, vice president and regional personnel officer for Wachovia Bank & Trust Company. As the young ladies promenade through the garden, a rendition of Lionel Richie’s “Hello” Will be sung by the Grady Seigle Ensemble. Creative dance, piano, and other musical talents will be displayed by the participants. The Pre-Teen Cotillion i9 just one of the many public services the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority is in volved with each year. Other fund raising-cultural acti Cassandra Moore Yolanda Warren •vities the sorority has sponsored for 1984-85 include: a career-vocational workshop to inform secondary stu dents in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System and their parents of career-vocational opportunities; a card party and fashion show held at Montaldo’s downtown to raise funds for the Afro-American Cultural Center; scholarships presented to selected, students of Johnson C. Smith, Barber-Scotia College and Livingstone College; and presenting Karina Williams Jamila Perry Melanie Ingram the 1984 Pre-Teen Cotillion Queen, runner-up, and contestants on the Sigma Gamma Rho float during Johnson C. Smith’s Homecoming parade.
