Harris is professor emeritus of architecture at NCSU His work as an architect during the 1940s, *508 and early ’60s earned him interna tional acclaim. Proctor, who is Martin Luther King professor emeritus of educa tion at Rutgers University, was president of N.C. A*T State Uni versity from 1960-64. He also has served as president of Virginia Union University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. A native of Norfolk, Va„ Proctor has been pastor of the Abyssinian Baptist Church since 1979. He is the author of “The Young Negro in America. 1960-60” and co-author of “Sermons From The Black Pulpit." From 1964-69 he held administra tive posts with the Peace Corps in Nigeria and in Washington, D.C., the - National Council of Churches, the Office of Economic Opportunity, the Institute for Services to Educa tion and the University of Wiscon sin. Proctor has received the Out standing Alumnus Award from Bos ton University, where he earned the doctor of theology degree in 1960. More than 20 colleges and univer sities have awarded him honorary doctoral degrees. - Before coming to NCSU in 1969 as professor of architecture, Harris was the first dean of the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin.
