Bike-A-Thon V Sr * VT • .> * T* 'V 4 1 Raises $1,450 A group of “Parents and Children of the YMCA” eponaored a Trike Bike-A-Thon at the McOorey Brandi YMCA on Saturday, May 35, 1906. This project, spearheaded by CarienU Ivory, Carolyn Gray, Veronica Platt, Linda Colbert, Ero nita Strong, Geneal Frasier, and Susan House, was held in an effort to raise much needed funds for die YMCA. Proceeds will be used to replace various sports equipment, games, camping equipment, art sup plies and other needed materials. Hie Trike- Bike- A-Thon began at 9:90 a.m. with Freedie Pratt making his way around the obstacle course set up by Carolyn Oary and Linda Colbert. He was followed by 99 trikers and bikers who maneuvered their way to the finish line. All participants had completed the course by 10:90 a.m. * Prizes were awarded to all the participants Special awards were made to the top fundraisers. Four year old Terrell Ivory won First 1 Place having raised 1315; second place went to six year old John Haris ton, who raised $199.50; third Place to eight year old Edwin Colbert, who raised $150; and two fourth place winners, four year old Danniel Gary and nine year old Jason Brooks, both of whom raised $135. Additional prizes were award ed to the fastest, slowest, safest and funniest riders. The 40 participants worked diligently on the project were also recognized in apprecia tion of their efforts. For the teens at the McCrorey Branch YMCA, a Skato A-Hion is being planned for this Red Gross Hold lb Annual Meeting Tuesday The Greater Carolines Chapter of American Red Cross will hold its 1964-66 Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 18, at 13:15 p.m. The public is invited to the meeting, which will be held at the Quality Inn, 301 S. McDowell Street, Charlotte. This year, Chief Executive Of ficers of major Charlotte area cor porations, as well as, ited Cross volunteers, have been invited to the meeting. The keynote speaker will be Aahby Fulcher, director of medical man agement for Burlington Industries, and a recognized authority on em ployee health care programs.
