Bus Ridership Up The Charlotte Transit System had a 5.15 percent increase in ridership in April, 1985 over the same period in 1964. This represents 39,471 more —riders and the third consecutive month of growth in transit volume. Last month 805,582 persons used the Charlotte Transit System; ri dership for April, 1964 was 766,111. The average dally volume was 22,794 compared to 21,762 for April, 1984. The Charlotte Department of Transportation attributes the growth in ridership to new ad vertising campaign begun in mid February, a targeted marketing program directed to 20,000 house holds, new “take one” bus informa tion racks at area locations and normal seasonal variations.
