first anniversary in business this
month.
Ray was formerly plant man
ager for the Rego Company in El on
College, N.C., before purchasing the
MAACO center. He had also been

was in the Norwegian Army, tad
trained in Sweden during World War
II. After the war, he came to the U.S.
and obtained his bachelor of arts
degree at Northwestern University.
Ray and his wife, Ellen, reside in
Charlotte.
The MAACO concept was
launched with a pilot operation in
Wilmington, De , in 1972. Sales

Simmer Workshops
Family Ufe Enrichment, a divi
sion of United Family Services,
begins its 1985 Summer Workshops
series this month.
The series, which runs through
August, offers workshops on pa
renting, on separation and divorce,
on marriage and remarriage, and on
retirement and aging.
Workshops will be led by the staff
at Family Ufe Enrichment and are
open to individuals who live or work
in Union or Mecklenburg County.
Most workshops will meet in the
evening at the United Way building
in downtown Charlotte at 301 S. Bre
vard St.

ing, by the North Carolina Motor
Carriers Association Safety, Securi
ty and Personnel Council
Among the 12 winners, who av-.
eraged a safety record of 2.5 mill
ion miles in 26 years, six truckers
are from Charlotte and the imme
diate surrounding area. They are:
Albert Wtlliams Jr., and Richard W.
Stallings of Charlotte; Johnny G.
Miller of China Grove; Clement H.
Bost of Mooresville; James C. Falls
and Marshall Lloyd. Bumgarner of

Certificates for the annual Council
safety project were awarded by
NCMCA. Winners also received
lapel pins during the awards cere
mony at the Raleigh Hilton Inn in
Raleigh, N.C.

the March award for driving
2,190,000 miles in 23 yean.
Marshall Lloyd Bumgarner of
Cherryville, driver for Carolina -
Feight Carriers Corporation, Cher
ryville, received the February
award for driving 34 years and
3.133.000 miles.
The January award went to James
C. Falls of Cherryville, driver for
Carolina Freight, for driving
