The credential was awarded by the CDA Credentialing Commission, which is working to improve the quality of care provided for young sters in child care centers. The Commission represents the early cMkhood profession through its member national organizations. Every candidate for the CDA Cre dential is nssessad by a team of four persons including three from the local community. The team mem bers observe the cambdate work ing with children and evaluate the caregiver’s competence In six areas. These range from establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment to advanc ing the child’s physical and intel lectual growth. In an age when both parents of an Increasing number of children are working outside the home, finding an environment in which children will receive more than basic main tenance has grown in importance. CDA assures parents that the cre dentialed caregiver is capable of providing competent and nurturing car*. "Today, we have been thrust into a world market and we are part of an international marketplace whether we know It or not.” “Economics of International Trade,” "Export Transportation Management,” and “International Banking” will be taught this fall at CPCC, along with “International Relations” or “Geography." A wide variey of conversational foreign languages also are taught, including Arabic, Hindu, Persian, Mandarin Chinese. German, Italian, or Russian. Registration begins August 29 for classes beginning October 1.
