Johnson C. Smith Univer
sity basketball coach Steve
Joyner gets excited when
he talks about the upcom
ing Alumni game to be
played on the Johnson C.
Smith University campus.
“It will be hosted by the
athletic department,” he
said. “We are going to have
several former Johnson C.
Smith University players
present.”
According to Steve, on
Friday, November 8, his
ladies team will play at 5
p.m. against a team of his
former women players and
two teams of former mem
bers of the men’s team will
square off at 6:30 p.m.
“It will all be in keeping
with the spirit of Home
coming,” said the jovial
coach of the CIAA women’s
contender.
Former players will in
clude Marsha Alexander,
Odelia Johns, Phyllis
Washington, Chandra
Truesdale and Audrey
Hood.
Alexander is 13th on the
Bulls All-Time scoring list
with over 1,100 points to her
credit.
Johns is seventh with
1,446 points.
Last year, Johns who is
assisting coach Joyner this
year had 428 points, 52
assists, 52 steals, six
blocked shots, 83 rebounds,
a 70 percent free throw
shooting percentage and a
42 percent field goal
shooting percentage.
Folks, this could be quite
a game with the young
Lady Bulls having the ener
gy and talent to offset the
experienced other set.
The men’s game will fea
ture 1,000 point club mem
bers Bill Tibbs, Roose
velt McGruder, Robert
Lewis and top ten rebound
er James “Twiggy”
Sanders.
Tibbs garnered 1,338
points from 1978-1982.
McGruder had 1,502 from
1980-1984.
Lewis had 1,095 from
1975-1977.
Top Ten Rebounder
James Sanders had 903

Lewis is also a top ten
rebounder with 940 in his
three year stint with the
Bulls.
Look for the Golden Bulls
