Smith Univer sity basketball coach Steve Joyner gets excited when he talks about the upcom ing Alumni game to be played on the Johnson C. Smith University campus. “It will be hosted by the athletic department,” he said. “We are going to have several former Johnson C. Smith University players present.” According to Steve, on Friday, November 8, his ladies team will play at 5 p.m. against a team of his former women players and two teams of former mem bers of the men’s team will square off at 6:30 p.m. “It will all be in keeping with the spirit of Home coming,” said the jovial coach of the CIAA women’s contender. Former players will in clude Marsha Alexander, Odelia Johns, Phyllis Washington, Chandra Truesdale and Audrey Hood. Alexander is 13th on the Bulls All-Time scoring list with over 1,100 points to her credit. Johns is seventh with 1,446 points. Last year, Johns who is assisting coach Joyner this year had 428 points, 52 assists, 52 steals, six blocked shots, 83 rebounds, a 70 percent free throw shooting percentage and a 42 percent field goal shooting percentage. Folks, this could be quite a game with the young Lady Bulls having the ener gy and talent to offset the experienced other set. The men’s game will fea ture 1,000 point club mem bers Bill Tibbs, Roose velt McGruder, Robert Lewis and top ten rebound er James “Twiggy” Sanders. Tibbs garnered 1,338 points from 1978-1982. McGruder had 1,502 from 1980-1984. Lewis had 1,095 from 1975-1977. Top Ten Rebounder James Sanders had 903 from 1970-1974. Lewis is also a top ten rebounder with 940 in his three year stint with the Bulls. Look for the Golden Bulls to get off again. There is no admission to this exciting contest. Ndoh would like to develop some new economics courses, but first he plans to recruit more economics majors. Currently, only one student is majoring in economics. Dr. Sunday Ndoh New assistant professor “I would like to eventually add more courses in statistics econometrics, which and is a combination of economics and mathematics,” Ndoh said. “We might even allow the students to solve economic problems using the computer,” he added. “They need to know how to solve economic problems and work with computers if they plan to go to graduate school.” Even though he has been in Charlotte only a few weeks, Ndoh already loves it. “I love it here, and the cost of living is not that high,” he said. Ndoh and his wife Itoro have two children, Uduak, 9, and Idara, 2. Ndoh enjoys tennis, swimming and church activities.
