The child was not respond ing to any of the lights, colors and pictures that are used as a stimuli fn such- vision tests. The staff then '. remembered that the child loved her foster grandmother, Lucy Duck worth, and showed more reaittoh when Lucy was around. When Lucy came into the room, the child re sponded to her voice and movements and the staff was able to document the dbtance and angle of her btind Mhmie Roper volunteers 30 hours a week as a foster grandparent and still returns to the Western Carolina Center every Sunday to play tha piano for church services in the cottages. She also volunteers time to assist In feeding the residents at supper, and she says she enjoys It all. Sunshine Gibbs feeds, cares for, and entertains her foster grand children. She volunteers 30 hours df sendees week, making stuffed toys and decorations for the children’s wheelchairs. She also provides shamrocks or elves for St. Patrick’s Day, heart-shaped pillows for Va lentine’s Day, Mack cat decorations for Halloween and Jay Santa Clauses for Christmas.
