Statesville Avenue to talk to chil
dren about Thanksgiving.
What does Thanksgiving mean to
them? Hare’s whet they had to say.

Sister Helen Feeney’s class.

“Thanksgiving is a time when you
get together and give thanks to God
for all the good iMyg* that have
happened. We go down to my
grandmh’s. My mom's sisters and
everybody gets together for Thanks
giving dinner, and then we play
cards or games like Trivial Pur

Drive is in Mrs. Grisby’s second
grade. Kenneth was excited about
being interviewed. To the question,
what does Thanksgiving mean to
you?, he replied, "The Pilgrims
giving thanks.” At Kenneth’s home,
“everybody gathers around the
dining room for a happy Thanks
giving feast. We’re going to eat
turkey”. vy
• MALIK STEVENSON, an eighth
grader in Mra. Flack’s class, re
sides on Sylvania Avenue. “It means
the family getting together and
giving thanks for all our blessings."
Malik’s blessings include “bouse,
clothes, money, life itself, food,
video games, computers-I could go
on forever!” He added, “We go to

giving.”

grade. To Dione, Thanksgiving is

Arthritis Services
Arthritis Patient Services offers a
comprehensive water therapy pre
gram for persons with arthritis at
the Harris YMCA, 5900 Quail Hol
low Road. The program is admin
istered by a licensed physical the
rapist, who has received additional
training to adapt the program to
meet the specific needs of those with
arthritis. Participation in the pro
gram is by physician’s referral only.
The participant is evaluated for
strength and range of motion at the
beginning of each session. Twelve
weeks of water therapy are given by
the therapist with specific exercises
for the major Joints and muscle
groups of the body. Exercises are
designed to increase strength, range
of motion and endurance. The
therapy sessions last for 45 minutes,
with 30 minutes of organised exer
cise and 15 minutes of "free time"
when the therapist can work one
on-one with participants.

that God has given us. My grand
mother comes over to our house and
we gather around the table and we
pray first. After we eat, we go out on
the porch and play games. We pray
for my grandmother, who is 96, so
she has another Thanksgiving.”
