The first church service occurred on Saturday, September 7, 198S, at Garinger High School’s auditorium with 73 optimistic sup porters in attendance. Evangelist Calvin Watkins, a conference . evangelist, officiated. The church was formally organ ized on Saturday, October 18, 1885, with the conference president, secretary-treasurer and evangelist -Elders R. B. Hairston, J. A. Simons, and Calvin Watkins, respectively-officiating. The organizational service was conduct ed at Briarwood Elementary School where the church is presently meet ing. Over 100 organizers, officials and supporters were in attendance. Northeast became a complete, fully functioning church with the formal election of its first officers and board on November 18,1888. One of the primary goals of the new congregation-is to secure per manent facilities.
