On April 5, at tha Park Center, 31 young ladies will make their formal debut Into society. The Debutante Cotillion, an 0Wit sponsored by the Charlotte alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Somrtty, in being chaired by Darie Washington and Bronwen Gibson. Blaine Brown la tha president of tha local chapter. Per the next four weeks, the participants of tha cottlhon will be featured in the Poet.' This week, those highlighted include: Keia Albright, Renee Blackmon, Tammy Best, Natasha Carlton, Britannia Oiiaholm, Erika Curry, Sherry , Hamilton, and Trinitia Harrison. The daughter of Linds and Robert Albright, Keia is a senior attending West Charlotte High School. There, she is active as the vice president of the senior class, a latter girl, a DBCA member, the Order of Lions, and Keyettes. uuisiae -or her school activitiee, Keia is a member of the Freedom Mall Teen Board aa wall aa - aa employee of Peebles. She was re cently honored as West Charlotte’s Carrousel princess and was also named to “Who’s Who.” After graduation, Keia Intends to continue her studies at UNC-Chapel Mil or UNC-Greensboro where she w01| pursues msjor in political At O^SnS^School, where Renee Blackmon is a student, she is frmember of V.OlG.UE., the media dub, the French dub and V1CA.. The daughter of Delores Miller and Ottis Blackmon, Renee has been awarded for her typesettii« skills. Her plans after graduation in dude attending Spefanaa College to major in bnsinees management and organisation. Ultimately Renee would like to own and manager her When Tammy Boot graduates from high school, aha will attend Livingstone College and major In music with a concentration in education. Presently, the daughter of Eleanor McLendon is a student at Myers Park and is involved in Y-Teens, the Red Cross, the Youth Involvement Council, and in Health Occupations - Students of America. Exhibiting a talent for music Tammy has received a choral tcho - aarshipfrom Appalachian State, and i a scholarship from Spirit S^iare. The Hidden Valley Optimist 4 Club and Pfeiffer College haraalao 4 recognised her talent in musk. In Junior Achieve ment, Natasha la the corporate secretary for the company, “Achievers In Business.” The daughter of Beryl and Viva Carlton, Natasha’s-post secondary plans are to attend Wlneton^alem State University, major in medkdoe and become an ophthalmologist. A student at South Meckknbitfg, Britannia Chisholm is the daughter of Leona Chisholm. She Is the director and coordinator at her school’s Carrousel pageant, and la a member of the Anchor Club, NAACP, SADD, Interclub Council; and tbe Senior Board. Her involve ment at school led to her becoming “Student of the Month.” The daughter of Fred and Kate Hamilton III, Sherry seeks a career in journalism and later a position as anchorwoman. She plana to attend - UNC-Greensboro. Trinitla Harriaon is the ibi»htw of Roosevelt and Shirley Harrison. A senior at Myers Park High School, Trinitla is very active. She is a member of the Student Council, the Keyettes, the National Honor - Society, and she has been on both the volleyball team and the junior y loam TrifUtia haspartidpa ted in the Appalachian Summer Science Pro gram, the CRESS Program at N.C. State University where she was voted “Most Diligent Student” and the Close-Up Program.
