remarks. "Willie was a great asset
to our operation and he will be sorely
missed. He was a first in just about
everything at the plant and was a
key to the success of the Charlotte
plant. He was the first truck driver
and helped to build up and run the
warehouse operation as it is today,
having trained and supervised many
of the warehouse personnel. Willie
gained the respect and admiration of
everyone he came in contact with at
the plant which is why he is af
fectionately known as ‘PA’.”
One of Burton’s greatest honors
while employed at FMC was re
ceiving a one million plague with no
accidents on his record.
A member of Faith Memorial
Baptist Church, Burton serves as a
deacon, a Sunday School teacher,
vice president of the usher board
and finance committee member. His
pastor, Rev. W. H. Caldwell, who
was accompanied by his wife, led
prayer service at the dinner.
Married to Wllhemtna Burton,
Willie is also the grandfather of 26
and great-grandfather of one.
