saying that the artists
ought to make up their
minds. If they’re going to
sing gospel, sing gospel or

please don’t mix the two.

telephone conversation
with noted gospel singer
Shirley Caesar and I asked
her opinion of the new
sound that gospel has pro
duced. While Mrs. Caesar
made dear that she pre
ferred the traditional
sounds of gospel, she also
added, “I feel Hat what
ever vehicle the Lord uses
to spread His word, I say
. ‘Amen’ to it. With this new
sound in gospel music, a lot
of people who never pick ig>

I agree with Shirley. I
can remember all too often
how I’d listen to soogf I

rather surprised that I had

energetic, from The Jets to
Atlantic Starr. I missed
Cashflow and left before
the Barkays am* qn. If I
had to complain itWild
have to be that there was
too much time between the
acts, at least 30 to 45
minutes. Hut kind of times
takes something away
from the performance. The
show began promptly at
7:30 and when Atlantic
