By J.M.Little Special To The Post “And Jesus answering ! said, A Certain man went down to Jerusalem to • Jericho, and fell among ; thieves, which stripped ‘ him of his raiment, and wounded him, and depart ed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came S down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, :i he passed by on the other * side. And likewise a Levite, * when be was at the place, ~*eme and looked on him, iXftd passed by on the other ~ side. But a certain Samari ► -tan, as he Journeyed, came where he was: and when he mm, be bad com on him, And went him, and bound up his , pouring in oil and and act him on his beast, and brought to an inn, and took of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and . Slid unto him, Take care of jf him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again I will repay thee." (Lukel0:30-35) There are many things the Lord is telling us here in this parable of the Good Samaritan. First, I want to answer from the Word of God why the Lord spoke in parables. If you go to the religious world and ask them why the Lord spoke in parables, you’ll get many different answers but probably the answer you’ll get most is that the Lord spoke in parables to make it easy for the people to understand. I was taking with a deacon several years ago and that was his blinking as to why the Lord spoke in parables. Let’s r listen to our Lord tell why ' He spoke in parables; "Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. And the disci ples came, and said unto Him, Why speakest Thou unto them in parables: He answered , and said unto them, BECAUSE IT IS GIVEN UNTO YOU TO KNOW THE MYSTERIES OF THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, BUT TO THEM IT IS NOT GIVEN.” (Matt. 13:9-11) Now that's the purpose as to wny tne Lord - spoke to the multitudes in parables, because it is not .. given to the world to know the mysteries of the King dom. The Lord was not to make these easy for all to un Now that’s coo . _ to what you hear in ttbe religious world. Men » say they are re-writing the y* Bible to make It simple so * that everybody can under Stand it What a tragedy! The Bible was written for one person only, and to ooe person only; the child of God. Then again listen to what the Lord said; “But - blessed are your eyes, far they see:' and your ears, for they hear. For verily 1 aay unto you, That many pro phets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen diem; and to bear those things which ye hear, and have not heard J. M. Little First In series them.” (verses 15-17) Then the Apostle Paul said: “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost.” (II Cor. 4:S) The world has no love for the Gospel. And if you carry the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ you are going to suffer persecution. The greatest persecution you will endure comes from the religious world. Why? The Gospel is hidden from the religious world because the religious world is blinded by Satan. A sinner being awakened to his lost condi tion by the Holy Spirit is a great mystery that the reli gious world does not under stand. That’s why religious professors persecute an awakened sinner. If you do not understand what it means to be awakened to your lost condition under Holy Spirit conviction, then you do not know Christ. I want us to look at tbe spiritual application in the story of the Good Samari tan as it relates to the salvation of a lost sinner. Have you ever been a lost sinner? This -“certain man" who went down from Jerusalem to Jericho represents every lost sin ner whom the Lord saves. The Lord plainly tells us in His Word that He didn’t come to save everybody. There is a doctrine that is going around the world like wildfire that Christ died for everybody. That doctrine didn’t come from tbe Word of God. Tbe Lord plainly declared: “1 am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Mt. 9:13) Then in Mt. 15:34, "I am not sent but unto tbe lost sheep of the bouse'of Israel.” Then in Jn. 17:9 the Lord said: “I pray for them: I PRAY NOT FOR THE WORUp, but for them which Thou hast given Me; for they are Thine." In tbe face of all the Scriptures, how then can an individual teach and preach that the Lord died for everybody? Simply be cause the Gospel is hidden from the soul. This certain man on his way to Jericho was beaten and robbed by thieves on his journey and left in the ditch on the side of the road half dead and wounded. Every sinner is half dead and wounded. In your natural state you are dead in trespasses and sins. But man is a trinity: body, soul and spirit. In your body, you are world conscious. With your five senses you are aware of your environment, the world in which you live and move about. In your soul, you are self-conscious. In your spirit, you are supposed to be God conscious. But, in the Fall in the Garden there in Eden, man died in his spirit when he disobeyed the Lord. The Lord had told man that if he ate of the forbidden tree, he would die; “And the LORD God commanded the man, say ing, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of*the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eastest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Gen. 16:17) Down through the ages men have blTndly taught that Eve was not under God’s command ment to not eat of the tree of good and evil. When the Lord gave the command ment to Adam, it applied to Eve as well. I wish I had time to go into that. f ' THE BEST BUYS Si 1 j CHARLOTTE ARE I FOUND EACH WEEK IN THE POST i *•••••••.*.* i; ■>. ’•* : • ‘i-yA ' - r kuto? Boat? tome?
