Propheft Column The First Man, Adam By J. M. Little 8pecl»l To The Post Now, we have seen the creation of roan, both male and female. How are they to live? Or, what shall they eat? I want you to listen closely tonight. I’m going to point out something here you may not have throught about. "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” (Gen. 1:29). Right here is where God appointed man to eat of trees, they were his meat. So God appointed man to be a vegetarian at this point. He didn’t tell him to slay one animal for meat. Then again in verse 9 of Gen. 2, “And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that - is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the TREE OF LIFE also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL.’’ There again God tells man to eat' ■of the trees. Then again in verse 16; “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat." Now, this is the third time the Lord told the man to eat pf the trees for meat, but on this occasion he gave him a different command in that He restricted him from eating from a certain tree there in •the Garden. • Verse 17, “But of the free of KNOWLEDGE OF •GOOD AND EVIL, THOU SHALT NOT EAT OF IT: far in the day that thou eastest thereof thou shalt surely die.” So God placed man under a co venant of works, to do one .thing; “ DON’T EAT OF THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL.” Will the man obey God’s command? At this point Adam is walk ing In perfect fellowship with God, knowing the mind of God and is faith ful to God in every respect. But why did the Xord tell Adam not to eat of this particular tree? To test man’s faithfulness to Him. Here is a whole world of frees for man to eat from, and he only was forbidden to eat from one tree. All on the restored earth is peace ful at this time. AD the animals are at peace with one another. Man could walk among and talk to the animals with all ease. Not one would think of fighting man. A lion or snake would not think of attacking their king, man. Can you imagine a world like that? Where all is sweet and peaceful from one corner of the earth to the other? We can’t, can we? But there is one man who rules the entire world, he is king over an the earth. Wouldn’t you think he’d like to keep all this peacefulness and walking with and talking to the Lord? What would you do? But there was someone watching this whole scene ; that we have wltneaeed. He was watching it with hatred and jealousy, and envy in his heart. He was planning all the while to wreck everything that God had done. Who is this someone and why did he want to wreck such a peaceful world and state of affairs? He was a fallen angel, Lucifer. Lucifer had lost the earth »» his throne in his rebellion when the Lord kicked him out of Heaven. He declared In his heart; “I • WILL GET EVEN WITH THE LORD.” Remember, H was he who said, “I WILL ASCEND ABOVE THE HEIGHTS OF THE IDS; I WILL BE THE MOST HIGH.” Yes, the Lord had defeat ed Lucifer, but Lucifer planned in his heart of hatred to get even with, or get back at the Lord How many times have hearts laid they were going to get even with some child of God? Or, I’ll get Mm. A tpen said some years ego in reference to this ssrvant of the Lord, "I just want to get Mm.” But he couldn’t Ml ooe thing I bed done to Mm. Every loot person Is s child of the devil and carries a heart of hatred fw the child of God. • Whet did Lucifsr do? Chapter $: “Now the ear pent was more subtil then any beast of the field wMch » the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” (Verse 1). “And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of. the trees of the garden.” (Verse 2). Right here is where Lucifer, through the serpent, succeeded in getting the woman to question God. Once the Devil gets you to question God, he has succeeded in turning you away from de pendence upon God. As Eve began to question God, what did she do? She lied on God. Listen to what she said, "But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat or it, neitner mail ye touch it, lest ye die.” Right here is where she lied on the Lord. He didn’t command them not to touch the tree, Just to not eat of it. But the Devil succeeded in Ms getting her to question her Maker, and he kept feeding her his poison. Let’s listen in as he feeds her his next bait of poison as she listens to the VOICE OF THE DEVIL: “And the serpent said unto the woman, YE SHALL NOT SURELY DIE: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, know ing food and evil,” (Verse 4-5). What will the woman do? What would you do? Here, is the saddest thing and the most awful thing a human being could do. “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was plea sant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise..." What a tragedy) She has now disobeyed God. Lucifer has succeeded in part in getting back at the Lord. He has gotten the woman to break God’s command. The woman has eaten of the tree of know ledge of good and evil. What will she do next? “She took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” (Verse •). Lucifer now has succeeded in getting both the man and his wife to disobey God. Adam ate of the tree with his eyes wide open. He knew if he partook of the forbidden tree he would die. He sinned willingly. Adam had a free-will. He was not a slave of the Devil as Is every lost person today. He was the only man who had a free-will. When he disobeyed God and obeyed the Devil, he became a devilish soul, a child of the Devil The light went out of his soul on the road to Hell. No longer does he have fellowship with the Lord. He Is now a sinful being When he partook of the forbidden tree he fell from a state of Innocency, to one of guilt. He willing ly broke God’s command ment. Yes, he had a free will. but he decided to give allegiance to the Devil, he sold the entire race into slavery to the Devil. When he died, spiritually, death pmed upon all men. Every offspring of his would be bom dead spiri tually. a child of the Devil. When you and I were SHOP THE POST ADS bom, by nature we were children of the Devil. r(S)Quality You Can Trust 1985 DAT8UN 300ZX; Blue finish, T-Top, loaded. ’15,800 1984 OLDSMOB1LE DELTA ROY ALE BROUGHAM: Beige finish, automatic transmission, air, am-fm stereo, cruise, tilt. •8,800 IM3 FORD E8CORT: 4 speed transmission, air, am-fm radio. •3,800 1981 HONDA ACCORD: 4 door, white finish, manual transmission, air, am-fm radio. iii *8,500 ^LAA44A'Ill£K HJfill mmm—m__i Fred Brown Itte, 1AM, Bring roar Title!
