S.S. EMERALD SEAS - Mary J. Hollins of Charlotte. NC, with Mary Starkley and daughter Kim recently enjoyed a cruise abroad Eastern Cruise Lines' 8.8. Emerald Seas. Sailing from the Pert of Miami, the Emerald Seas’ SUPERCRUISE v Isis ted the Bahamas and its own private out Island, Little Stirrup Cay. As one of (he main features of SUPERCRUI8E, the out island offers not Just a beach, but an Island with row beaches; a beach for snorkellng, a beach for swimming, a beach for sailing and a special beach to be alone. Passengers also enjoyed a barbecue buffet, three outpost bars, a Calypso Band and a host of family activities. Aboard the ship, passengers find the largest staterooms afloat, a variety of entertainment and non-stop food. Featuring an American cuisine, the Emerald Seas has its own master chef who oversees all meal preparations and the bountiful midnight buffets. Entertainment includes live nightly shows and bands and a full casino complete with craps, blackjack, roulette and slots. SUPERCRUISE sails every Friday at 7 p.m. to Nassau and Little Stirrup Cay and Monday at 3:15 p.m. to Nassau, Freeport and Little Stirrup Cay from the Port of Miami. Inc. and the Center for Creative leadership will jointly sponsor 10 scholarships for North Carolina volunteer community leaders in • programs designed to improve leadership skills and working relationships. Recipients for the RJR Nabisco Scholarships for Community Lead ership will be those who give their time and talents to school boards, town councils, county commissions, or other organizations that affect the quality of community life. A selection preference will be given to women and minorities or to those working with minorities or minority programs. Applications for 1986 programs are now being accepted. Two scholarships will be awarded in each of North Carolina’s five major geographic regions, one scholarship per region for the Leadership Development Program mid the other for the program Working With Others: A Manage ment Process. Both programs are offered at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro. The participant or sponsoring organization will be asked to pay 10 percent of program related expenses, approximately $33 for the Leadership Development Program and $120 for Working With Others. The leadership Development Program is a week-long workshop designed to help individuals to identify, practice, and improve their leadership skills. Participants learn by experiencing first-hand the demands and chal lenges of leadership. TTirough a assessment and constructive feed back, they become more aware of their abilities and areas that need improvement.
