Jesse Jackson returns to radio In February with twice-daily 90- second vignettes focused on Is sues that affect the nation's black population. It was an nounced last Friday. "Certainty there HaU Hall Show Stirs NAACP Wrath LOS ANGELES (AP) — The NAACP of Beverly Hills and Hol lywood said It was outraged Fri day that "The Arsenlo Hall Show," which premiered this week Is apparently committed to not hiring any blacks In key be- hlnd-camera positions. "Once again, we are being uti lized as a viewing audience and as on-camera talent, but Ignored in the key positions such as di rectors, producers or writers," stated Willis Edweirds, president of the Beverly Hllls-HoUywood National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Calls placed to Paramount went unanswered, and Hall could not be reached for com ment. "The Arsenlo Hall Show," pro duced by Paramount Pictures Corporation, Is a nationally- syndicated talk show starring the actor-comedian that debuted January 3. It marks the second attempt by Hall, who co-starred with buddy Eddie Murphy In the movie "Coming to America," on a nightly Interview program. Hall had served as host of "The Late Show" on Fox Broadcasting un til earlier this year when the program was replaced. Awards said that since No vember, the NAACP received complaints from members and entertainment Industry workers who said the show was not hir ing blacks. NAACP oillclals met with sev eral Paramount executives and Hall but were "stunned and flab bergasted" to learn that no blacks were among the staff of directors, producers and six writers hired. "The NAACP is especially shocked that Arsenlo Hall as ex ecutive producer of his show has passed on an opportunity to bring In black Industry profes sionals who have traditionally been locked out of top positions, and the NAACP Is not going to stand Idly by and watch these Inequities continue," Edwards said In a statement. NEW YORK (AP) — Heavy weight champion Mike Tyson and his estranged wife, Robin Givens, may have spent the past few months trading Insults and lawsuits, but they spent Christ mas Eve together at a movie, a published report says. The New York Post reported In today's editions that the p>alr sat slde-by-sIde Saturday night In a Studio City, Calif., movie house watching "Hellralsers," a horror movie. The Post said a source familiar with Ttyson's dally activities confirmed the movie meeting and said Tyson promoter Don King was opposed to the reun ion. "Mike was with her but there won't be a reconciliation," the Post quoted the source as saying. 'The events are bizarre, but this wasn't a wonderful experience for Mike." The Post also said the divorce settlement is almost worked out.
