McDonald's Announces Gospelfest Raleigh - McDonald's Invites Gospel choirs throughout the Carollnas to Join In Carolina Gospelfest '88. a celebration of inspirational music. Partlclp)at- Ing choirs will be competing for $9,000 in prizes. Sponsored by local McDo nald's restaurants, this year's singing comp>etltlon has an en tirety new structure. Choirs will compete with other choirs of comparable size In one of three categories; choirs of 4-19 sing ing members. 20 or more singing members, or college choirs. Non-professional singing groups who do not presently have a recording contract are el igible to compwte. Preliminary events will be held at various sites throughout the Carollnas on Saturdays April 16. 23. and 30. Winners of each preliminary competition will ad vance to a semi-final round on Saturday, May 7. The semi-final winners will then compete in the final competition on Sunday. May 22. in the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. This final event will feature special guest artist Shir ley Caesar and the winner of Carolina Gospelfest '86 - The Family Fellowship Choir.
