High School Students Experience Running Gk)vemment
HOCK TOWN MEETING — Charlotte teenagers
participated in an open discussion to ffnd solu
tions to community problems like transportation
and where to put a football stadium as part of
Touth In Government Day, .^nll 11. The students
arrived at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government
Center and were greeted by government officials.
The mock town meeting was held in the meeting
chamber and the students all had roles to play.

celebrating National Library
Week, April 9-15, with six spe
cial bookmarks featuring chil
dren's drawings of their favorite
books. The drawings were select
ed from winners In the Chil
dren's Book Week "Deslgn-A-
Bookmark" contest, held In area
libraries In October 1988.

the Gaston County Children's
Council, will be held Friday -
Sunday April 14-16 at the Char
lotte Convention Center. The
second annual FunFalr Is an
event for children amd their par
ents featuring a variety of activ
ities, exhibits, presentations,
performances, and products that
will Inform, entertain and en
rich.
Admission Is $3.50 for adults;
$2 for children ages 3-16 with
children 2 and under admitted
free. FunFalr opens to the public
from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday,
April 14, and runs 10 - 6 on Sat
urday, April 15, and Noon - 6
p.m., Sunday. April 16. Proceeds
benefit the work of the Charlotte
and Gastonia Councils to en
hance the lives of children uid
