Red Branch OES Banquet Spocfad To The Poet The First Recognition Ban quet for the Red Branch Chapter #418, Order of Eastern Star was held In Logan, Chapel C.M.E. Church Fellowship Hall where around one hundred guests at tended. The theme for the ban quet was "The Work YouVe Done, Speaks For You." The evening began with host ess, Sis Alice Russelle and Sis ter Martina Southerland wel coming the guests as they arrived. Associate matron, ^lane Wright served as mls- tSCesss of ceremony. The welcome was given by Sister Mary Orr, followed by the singing of "Lift Every Voice and Sing." Then the patron brother, Garfield Sum mers led the group In a stirring prayer and blessing. There next an elegant dinner catered by McCarral Catering Service. Music for the evening was beau tifully rendered by Miss Ceclla Stroud, a minister of music at ^gan Chapel C.M.E. Church, ^d a student at Johnson C. Sjoiith University where Miss Stroud Is majoring In music. Miss Stroud sang "Close To Thee." The speaker for the banquet, Mrs. Lena Helton PlckenS. ^as Introduced by past ma tron Beatrice Kiser. Mrs. Pick ens, a Charlotte, NC native Is niarrled to William Pickens and Aey have four children. Mrs. Pickens is a speech therapist with the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system and a member of FVlendshlp Baptist Church. Eve ryone thoroughly enjoyed her ^eech.
