It’s Lethal: Glover And Gibson Paired In Movie Sequel The dynamic team of L.A. de tectives Martin Riggs (MEL GIB SON) and Roger Murtaugh(D/J'J- NY GLOVER) are back In "Lethal Weapon 2," the action-packed and eagerly awaited film that continues the adventures of Warner Bros.' 1987 smash Lit "Lethal Weapon." In the exciting, all-new "Lett al Weapon 2," Riggs and Murtaugh are assigned to protect a federal witness from a fearsome crime S5mdlcate. The witness' Infor mation leads Riggs and Mur taugh directly to the head of the syndicate, who turns out to be a racist South African diplomat to the United States named Aijen Rudd. Unfortunately for the po lice, Rudd Is protected by diplo matic Immunity, and arresting him seems ImjxDSSlble. Unfortunately for Mr. Rudd, "Impossible" Is a word that Riggs and Murtaugh refuse to under stand! Riggs, a constantly on-edge "lethal weapon" to his enemies. Is nevertheless a warm surro gate member of partner Roger Murtaugh's family—wife Trlsh (DARLENE LOVE), their older daughter Rlanne (TRACI WOLFE) and two 5munger chil dren, Nick (DAMON HINES) and Carrie (EBONIE SMITH). The Gwynn Wins Beauty Title INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Paula Gwynn, a 6-foot-2 television producer and professional mod el from Washington, D.C., was crowned Miss Black America on Monday. Miss Gw3mn, 22, was selected from 46 contestants represent ing 37 states in the 21st annual pageant. Elaine Joyner, 28, Columbia, N.C., was second; Racquel Eat- mon, 19, Mansfield, Ohio, was third; and Tiffany Williams, 20, Abbeville, La., was fourth. The pageant, held In conjunc tion with the annual Indiana Black Expo, Involved judging in preliminary swimsuit, public speaking and talent competi tions last week. Murtaugh home Is a much- needed refuge for both men from the non-stop stress of their work. The actors who portray Roger and his family, all return ing from "Lethal Weapon," devel oped a closeness that befits an on-screen unit. DANNY GLOVER has rapidly ascended the scale of success to become one of America's most exciting leading men. Glover has Impressed audiences as Moze, the sharecropper who helps to save Sally Field's farm in "Places In the Heart"; the crooked cop out to kill fellow of ficer Harrison Ford in "Witness"; the heroic cowboy In "Silverado"; and "Mister" in Steyen Spiel berg's film version of Alice Walk er's "The Color Ihirple." For his title role of the great South African freedom fighter in HBO's "Mandela," Glover won both the ACE and NAACP Image Awards. More recently, he has starred In the feature "BAT-21" with Gene Hackman, and In the PBS-TV production of Lorraln Hansberry's "A Raisin In the Sun."
