The Trials Of Terry SherriU Federal Probe Sou^t For Concord Case NAACP Wants Justice Department To Investigate Robinson's Death By Cassandra Wynn THE CHARLOTTE POST The NAACP has called for the U.S. Justice Department to in vestigate the events that led to the death of a 24-year-old black man while he was in the custody of Concord police. And it looks like the government will intervene. "We are calling for a federal investigation and an indictment of the officers involved," said Mary Peeler, executive director of the N.C. National Association for the Advancement of Col ored People (NAACP). As he was being apprehended, police used pepper spray to subdue him. The death, which angered black residents sparked a night of rioting July 18. Robinson's funeral was Saturday. Robinson's family has joined the NAACP's efforts to get the federal government to intervene. 'We see a broader picture here," Peeler said. "A person is dead." She said that the Incident bears a close likeness to the Rodney King Incident. 'The only difference is that there is no video."
