Activities Include bingo, checkers, horseshoes and slam dunk contests. •The Bridlewood Commu nity Association is having its ninth annual Labor Day Blast at 5 p.m. Sept. 6. The day will have food, games and activities for the whole family. The festival will take place in the 300 block of Clo ver Hitch Dr. •The Family Outreach and Counseling Center Inc. will sponsor a Community Pride Emporium Sept. 11 at Bel mont Regional Center from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. The purposes of this event are to educate and expose Mecklenburg County resi dents to artists in the com munity and to return money to the community. Monies raised from the venture will be used for scholarships for the Adult Day Care Center at the Double Oaks Community Service Center. •The Community Health Services Diabetes Support Group will hold Its monthly meeting Sept. 13 from 7:30-9 p.m. at 1401 E. Seventh St. The discussion will focus on Medicare and private insu rance Issues related to dia betes treatment, supplies and equipment. The support group is free and open to the public. •The Charlotte Chamber Partners in Quality will sponsor a leadership series featuring John D. Corrcntl, president and chief operat ing officer of Nucor Corpora tion, speaking on "The Nucor Story: Incentives Which Fos ter Teamwork and Reward Productivity and Quality." The event will take place at Omni Charlotte Hotel. A re ception will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dlrmer at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $60 per person or $420 for a block of eight seats.
