13A RELIGION / The Charlotte Post AUGUST 1, 1996 The Prophet’s Column This is a paid advertisement by J. M. Little Dear Friends, We are glad to greet you again in the Name of our cru cified, bur ied, and risen Lord. The greatest thing in all this world is just to know Christ. Do you know Him? Are you rejoicing in Him? Can you say; "He is mine, and I am His?" 1 can. What a joy just to know Him! “O GIVE thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; because his mercy endureth for ever." (Psalms 118:1). Yes, it is a gracious thing to give thanks unto the Lord. Are you thanking the Lord? Or do you have bitterness in your heart? Do you go about your daily tasks thanking the Lord and rejoicing in Him? Do you rise in the morning thanking Him? Do you go to bed at night thanking Him? Do you? If you know the Lord, it is a thankful life. Yes, I thank the Lord He sent His blessed Holy Spirit who one day awakened (Eph. 2:1) me and convicted me (John 16:7-11) of my lost condi tion (Luke 19:10) and revealed the Christ to my heart (Gal. 1:15-16). Yes, the greatest privilege in all the universe is just to know Him and walk with Him as you travel along life's way, from this world to that which is to come. What a joy! Then you can say with the Psalmist; "The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? The LORD taketh my part with them that help me; therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me." (Psalms 118:6-7). Now that is just one privilege that my Lord has given to me; to see my desire upon them that hate me. Some folks think they can't live without hating someone. You'll just have to live in hell with your hatred. Do you want Christ above all others? When you come to want Him above everything under the sun you'll be saved. Now the ques tion is;"DO YOU WANT CHRIST ABOVE EVERY THING IN THE WORLD?" Do you? I can't answer that for you. The responsibility is on you, YOU MUST GET TO CHRIST! Remember, my sinner, we are praying for you but you must flee to Him! I ask the saints to continue praying for and especially my family. for my daughters are not saved. They need to know Christ. May the blessing of my Lord rest upon you there as you labor in the work of the Lord getting the messages out over the air waves and in print. We must occupy and labor "TILL HE COME!" Which I believe will be soon! In the Beloved, Your Gospel Editor and Teacher, Gospel workshop Aug. 12-17 Continued from 11A to be announced for next year’s announcers,” reports Gospel Announcers Guild chair A1 Hobbs. “Our main focus, of course, is to assess where we are and what is needed for future industry growth.” Incidentally, the most notice able change in activities is the absence of the annually-held GMWA Excellence Awards. As reported earlier in the year, workshop executives have now repositioned the awards pro gram for their annually-held board meeting, which is held in March. Lancaster said having people minister at the facility has real ly brought a lot of joy into his life but he isn’t in a rush to declare which religion he’ll prac tice. “At this point I consider myself non-denominational because I imderstand that there are different types of religions, but I do beheve that Jesus is the one who came and died on the cross for our sins,” he said. “I am spending time trying to get the full understanding about (|od for myself. I am not the type of person who would go with one type of religion without knowing exactly where I am going.” Lancaster said he is feeling his way through rehgion and read ing about it for himself myself, but I have three yoimg children now and I know if I learn as much as I can about the Bible and about God, I can get out there and show them a better way,” Lancaster said. “I know that by exposing them to God, He will manifest in them and make them good kids like I always wanted to be.” Lancaster appreciates the peo ple coming to speak. “I think that it is great that people want to do things for others,” he said. “God chooses people to show others the way.” there is a better way.” Henderson says he has a lot of respect for the speakers, but Rhedrick is one of his favorite speakers. Robert Slade, 33, said: “Having people to come and minister to me has helped me to become more open -minded about religion.” Slade said since he has been at Right Turn, he reads the Bible a lot, and is getting a bet ter understanding of God, and he has hope for his future. “I admire Mr. Rhedrick because he is a person who has goals in life, but he takes time to share the gospel with us.” Rhedrick said, “I just want to show these men that there is hope and try to help them gain their self-confidence.” He enjoys trying to make a dif ference in the lives of these men but wants others to help. lOO’s to Choose From 5x8-$49.99 4x6-$29.99 2x8--$29.99 2x4— $9.99 20,000 so. He says he is trying to leam all that he can while incarcerated. “When I was out in the streets, I was doing a lot of running around and being too fast for “At one time I had given up on life, but since becoming closer to God, I have learned a lot of what life is all about,” he said. Slade, who is scheduled to be baptized this month said, “I beheve I am on the right track.” “Having ministry in prison is very important to me because I believe that idle time is the devil’s workshop,” said 38-year- old Donald Henderson, a Right Turn inmate. “The ministry and the program also teaches discipline. I think that God put me here to save me. It is important that they leam about their history from the beginning of time,” she said. Chambers said; “Our pastor. Rev. Sheldon R. Shipman, has been very supportive of this event. He truly enjoys African history himself and he serves on the board of directors of this program.” Chambers said spirituality plays a major role in this pro gram because, “Everything we do begins and ends with prayer.” they are actually looking for volunteers to work for at least an hour a day. Chambers says, “ I believe the workshops in African Studies will help prepare stu dents for the next school year by giving them a better out look about their history and themselves. They will be ready to tackle any academic challenge.” For more information or to volunteer your time, call Terry Chambers at 568-1539 or the church at 375-5361.
