Now, in my life ‘a healthy place’ is taking place naturally. And spiritually, a wealthy place has already taken place.” It is the voice of maturity from an artist who was once criticized for coming late to shows and missing out on a great deal of booking opportu nities. But that is the old LaShun Pace. The new one - who turns 35 next month - is proud of both her inner and outer growth, and even more proud of the album she feels will showcase her vocal depth and maturity more than any other. That album, “A Wealthy Place” is due out Aug. 28. (Not a moment too late for fans who have been waiting since its release was first scheduled for early spring.) EYE ON GOSPEL time friend Karen Clark (of the Clark Sisters fame,) those same fans are sure to find the highly touted project was worth the wait. Savoy Records execs were even more enthused by the response of the crowd which Pace brought to its feet at the annual meeting of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, held last week in Pittsburgh. “I love this album” reports the divorced mother of two daughters. “I don't want to talk about the divorce so much but I've grown up mentally and spiritually and these songs ministered to me and what I was going through. “I believe that with this pro ject God called me out and ministered to me awhile before he let me go out and minister to anyone else. Now I can minister to the hurting women, having been married, divorced and now single, and managing the things that a single wom£m goes through.” Of course, having seven sis ters doesn't hurt any, particu larly when they all sing and as the “Anointed Pace Sisters” have a track record of their own in gospel. While they pro vided vocal support to Pace on the new release, clearly they mean a great deal more. “I have a crown but my sis ters are the jewel in that crown,” Pace explains. “They make me look good whether I'm singing with them or not. They take care of my children when I'm out of town and most importantly, they hold me up spiritually and always remain in my comer.” As to whether or not Pace is on track with her career goals, a candid no' is the reply. “I'm not near where I want ed to be and I'm glad I'm not,” she reveals. “I wouldn't have been ready for it. But now because of what I have gone through. I'm ready for any- nightly. The evangelist for the week will be the Rev. This weeks scripture: “Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ; that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving togeth er for the faith of the gospel" - Phillipians 1:27 ! Sunday School ‘Continued from 11A ' snuff out a human life at the bat of an eye. How did we get in such a tragic situation? Many reasons may be cited, but the fundamental problem is that we have failed to teach our children and our grand children the important truths about God. We have allowed ourselves to become so busy making money, or building a career, or seeking pleasure, that we have neglected God's mandate to us as parents. If we thought about it at all, we thought that somehow our children would grow up know ing the Bible just as earlier generations did. How wrong we were! What can we do about the situation? First of all, like David we need to repent of our sins, whether of omission or commission, and pray that God will extend forgiveness to us. Then, like David, we must teach transgressors God's ways. Some of us need to become involved in formal teaching in Sunday school. Vacation Bible School, or Christian camps. All of us can teach in family situations or in informal one-to-one situations. moicTs, Christian Night Club LIVE ENTERTAINMENT BY Kyle Summers & God’s Anointed brothers & sisters en CHRIST The IMANI Singers & Many more MC Tre’ Tailor Music by DJ AN-GEE Doors Open at 8 PM - $8.00 LIMITED SEATING AVAILABLE FRIDAY, August 23, 1996 HILTON® UNIVERSITY PLACE GLENWATERS ROOM Tickets on Sale % 6001 Hair Studios, Plaza Rd.
