12A RELIGION/The Charlotte Post September 12, 1996 The Prophet’s Column This is a paid advertisement by J. M. Littie Every soul on this earth is headed for either Heaven or Hell. Which is it in your case? If you don't know the Lord, you are headed for Hell. And if you remain in your lost con dition, it can be said of you as it was said of Judas; “it had been better for that man that he had never been born.” You, who are in rebellion, have no idea of the awful destruction that awaits you one minute after death. The greatest thing in all this universe is to know Christ as your Lord and your Saviour. The most awful thing is to go out into eternity without Christ. We are living in the darkest hour, spiritual ly, that the world has ever known. All this njeans that Christ is coming soon, but only for those who are looking for Him. Are you looking for Him? I am. If you are not look ing and waiting for Him, you vill be left behind when he comes. Now, you can go on to church, but that is no evi dence at all that you know the Lord This religious generation today is the most deceived that has ever lived on earth. “Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.” (Acts 13:41). The salvation of a lost soul is a most mysterious work of graofe wrought in the heart by the Holy Spirit. Only those elected by God before the foundation of the world, (Ephesians 1:4), are the blessed objects of grace. When the blessed Holy Spirit is working in an elect soul, those around that soul despise and wonder at that wonderful work of grace. You don't understand it because you are not an object of God’s grace and have never known Holy Spirit Conviction, John 16:7-11. Every unsaved soul despises and wonders at God's grace. Church volunteers serve school By Matt Kelley THE ASSOCIATED PRESS DECATUR, III. - The second day of school was hectic enough for Washington Elementary School Principal Toni Nale before the sad-faced 12-year-old in the Chicago Bulls T-shirt showed up in her oflice. On the verge of tears, he begged Nale to let him return to her school, not the one he transferred to after his mother moved across town this sum mer. At Washington, he had begun turning away from the lure of the streets that kept getting him into trouble, and the prospect of going to a new .school was earthshaking. The Rev. Eugene Green arrived just after Nale had called the boy’s probation offi cer to take the child back to the school he had skipped. It was the first day of the One Church, One School pro ject in Decatur, a plan to have local churches “adopt” a public school and provide volunteers to help children. Green was there to work as a mentor and role model for students like the boy in the Bulls shirt. “How would you like to know that you have someone in your corner?” Green asked in a would you like to have some one who cares about you, to talk about your problems? Would you let me be that per son?” The boy in the Bulls shirt was skeptical. “I dunno,” he said in a barely audible qua ver as he stared at his hands. quiet voice as Nale held the boy’s quivering arm. “How See VOLUNTEERS on page 14A HAMMOND Organs NEW & USED CALL OUK TALENTED SALES PERSONS King-s Mountain - Doug Boyce (704) 394-6436 & CHARLOTIT!
