AUTO SHOWCASEH'he Charlotte Post Wednesday, November 27 1996 Land Cruiser’s a big ol’ expensive, nice kind of thing Continued From 11B a slouch at either. It’s comfort able enough and the ride and handling are better than you might expect. As for its offroad capabilities, I’ll take Toyota’s word for it. I couldn’t imagine scratching the loving paint job on my dark blue test vehicle. I probably could have gone any where. My vehicle was equipped with the optional locking front, center and rear differentieds. 'That’s not avail able on any other vehicle. It might not be necessary, but if you ever got stuck in real deep muck, you would be happy you selected that option. There’s not much else to be unhappy with about the Land Cruiser. The standard stuff is plentiful: power windows, door locks and mirrors; anti-lock brakes, air conditioning, auto- off headlights, front and rear headrests, separately con trolled rear-seat heating sys tem and cruise control. There are eight options avEulable, five of which were included on my test car; leather, third seat package, locking differential and premi um cassette, CD and radio. As it sat, my test vehicle was $50,050. Did I say the Land Cruiser is an expensive oF thing? It is indeed. ‘ Honda ponders offering a pickup truck Continued From 11B company officials may be try ing to determine whether strong North American sales will last before committing to a major expansion. “There is limited potential for future growth in the United States,” he said. “'They don’t want to be caught in the reverse of the current situa tion, where they have excess capacity waiting for a market.” Malibu wins award The Charlotte Post Will Be Closed Thursday & Friday For Thanksgiving Continued From 11B work ethic and the productivi ty of the Oklahoma City GM plemt is certainly no surprise to me. I’m honored to have the privilege to assist in showcas ing our plant and its employ ees to the rest of the country,” Keating said. As he spoke, workers from the United Auto Workers local 1999 unfurled a large sign that read “Right to Work is Wrong,” a reference to Keating’s long standing call for a bill banning mandatory imion membership, which the Republican claims would help attract new busi ness.
