The Prophet’s Column This is a paid advertisement by J. M. Littie "THE PROVIDENCE OF GOD" PART II •BY J.M. LITTLE There are only two classes of people on the face of this earth; the saved and the lost. Which class are you in? A bom again believer will not fight another bom again believer. You don't believe that because you have no idea at all what it means to be truly bom again. The multitudes of our church members have never dreamed of salvation in Christ, practically 100% of YOU. The only salvation many of you know is quitting a few of your sins and joining the church. Satan doesn't care how many sins you quit, just So you don't get to Christ. Our message today is about "THE PROVIDENCE OF GOD." What do we mean by the Providence of God? The superin tendence and care of God, God superintends and cares over all the affairs of men. By the grace of God, I want to share a marked contrast between the superin tendence of God in the lives of His people and the lives of the children of the Devil. If you believe that all of us are God's children, then this message is not for you. The Bible plainly declares that this earth is popu lated presently by God's chil dren, the Hving saints on earth. and the Devil's children. Now, let's look at God's providence in the lives of His children. "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto the prayers;..." (I Peter 3:12). What a gracious tmth and dec laration of love from my heaven ly Father! The Lord watches over me, and His ears are open to my prayers. My Lord has not left me. He loves me and gives me grace through every fiery trial. He hears my groanings when I weep for those who are unconcerned about their souls. The Lord cares for His people in mysterious and wonderful ways. Once my track got stuck in the bottomland of a forest. Even though, at the time, we were having a drought there must have been enough mois ture stiU there to cause this. As I thought about that later, I was reminded of Romans 8:28 and I told someone that what happened to me was for my good. I also said; "how do you know that I wouldn't have later walked upon a deadly snake down there and being way off by myself, it could have been tragi- edl." The Providence of God directed that moisture that was there for nje to get the track stuck. I don't understand many of the Lord's providences in iny life. But my place is to be thankful to Him. Are you thankful to Him? Klan watch topic of discussions Obituary Continued from 14A Also, three groups have planned demonstrations in response to the Pittsburgh rally. The Pittsburgh Coalition to Counter Hate Groups won sup port from City CoimcU to rally in Market Square, a downtown spot about four blocks from the Klan march on Grant Street. ‘We’re not trying to go face to face with the Klan,” said retired priest and organizer Donald Mcllvane, who participated in an anti-Klan rally near Uniontown in the early 1980s. “We don’t want to get into a shouting match with the Klan or worse.” The Grant Street Anti-Klan Coalition will demonstrate across the street from Klan’s rally on the steps of Pittsburgh’s City-County Building. “1 do believe you need to be present where the Ku Klux Klan is, but not everyone is comfort able with doing that. Many peo ple are and many people can be disciplined about it,” organizer Elayne Tobin said. The third response will take place in Westinghouse Park in a predominantly black neighbor hood. Mark Brentley of the Concerned Black Citizens plans a family-oriented ‘Teach-In” and suggests that blacks stay away from downtown Pittsburgh. As many as 200 officers, possi bly in riot gear, will patrol the rallies. Police will divide the Klan and demonstrators with barricades. The Klan’s Pennsylvania leader, C. Edward Foster, said people join the group out of eco nomic fhrstration. “They’re fed up with blacks being promoted over them and getting jobs ahead of them,” said Foster, a former truck driver who draws disability benefits and lives in Walston, Jefferson County. Mr. Garfield McDowell, of Charlotte, died on Sunday, March 30, 1997, at Carolinas Medical Center. He-was the father of Charlotte Post account executive, Patricia McNair.
