Noel said. ‘“The works have
titles, but that shouldn’t limit
one’s reaction to these works.”
“Paris Objects” is named so
because most were created in
Hutson’s studio in France. He
moved there in 1963, after
becoming acquainted with
African culture philosophy and
art. He traveled around
Europe and Africa before com
ing back to the States to teach
painting and drawing at
Himter College in New York.
In 1984, Hutson was hired by
Ohio State University in
Columbus, Ohio as a visiting
lecturer in the black studies
department. He also taught
African American art history
at Ohio State.
Hstson’s work has been
exhibited in France, Italy,
Africa, Japan and America.
