Robinson, a 1977 graduate
of the U.S. Air Force
Academy, is president of the
North Carolina Education
Reform Foundation, which
gives scholarships to low-
income families to send their
children to private schools.
Earlier this month,
Robinson helped organize a
Charlotte forum on reform
ing U.S. immigration policy,
which he considers too lax
and potentially dangerous to
the economic advancement
of African Americans.
Watt represents a district
that has been a Democratic
stron^old since its creation,
and is North Carolina’s most
urban.
